Kelly and Tom, ready to lift off on Kelly's birthday flight.

Up we go ... straight up. There was no wind in Gretna on this night.

Rich lifts off from Gretna High School in Euphoria.

We just hung there in the sky, hunting for a breeze to carry us away.

Gretna is about 12 blocks wide; it took us 30 minutes to cross town.

The neighbors took plenty of photos (thanks, Eric! Hope you get my better side next time.)

After regaining access to the truck (long story), Stephanie opens the champagne.

A toast and gift for our very gracious landowner, Ann, who looked after us.

"The winds have welcomed you with softness.

"The sun has blessed you with its warm hands.

"You have flown so high and so well, that God has joined in your laughter...

"...and set you gently back into the loving arms of Mother Earth."  -   The Balloonist's Prayer
