Today was a Nebraska Balloon Club club flight. We launched with Jim, Gene, Matt, Steve and Jeff.

Jennie needed something special to brighten her day. I think we found it!!

Lifting off from Gretna as Jeff inflates next door.

Away we go. Jennie was so excited we had to remind her to breathe!

The view from Steve's balloon as we float over Gretna.

Looking back to the south toward Gene.

Jim passes below us in Yellow Bird. Jim was carrying Mike Whye, a reporter who was writing a story about the
balloon club for the March/April 2009 issue of Nebraska Life magazine. A slideshow of photos from the flight
can be seen at the maginze's website.

The view from Jim's balloon as we float by.

Chasing Gene, Matt, and Steve across the cornfields north of Gretna. Scott is actually piloting Steve's balloon.

Dropping down for a close inspection of the corn and beans. This is
called "contour flying," following the contours of the land.

Another view from Steve's balloon as we float low over the corn.

Watching for the champagne cork. Will anyone catch it?

Jennie prepares to be initiated as her husband Joe and friend Shari look on.

We raise our glasses in a toast to Jennie.
