Rich Jaworski of Blair, Kim Rosenboom of Lemars, IA, and I met with Wakefield students to answer questions about ballooning.

Our passengers for Sunday morning's flight, Sophia and Nick pose for a pre-flight photo. Nick had a surprise planned...

Our hosts, Louie and Faye (center), watching as the balloons depart from the school grounds.

(l-r) Gordon, Alan, Kim, and Rich lift off to join in the hare-and-hounds race headed toward Wayne.

The open fields provided an abundance of landing choices. We picked this field about 1.5 miles north of Wayne.

Our Sunday morning flight made the front page of the Wakefield Republican newspaper:
Proposal at 1,000 Feet
Nick Sebade, left, of Emerson, took advantage of a flight in Tom and Stephanie Peterson’s balloon
"Dreamtime" during Sunday morning’s launch to propose to Sophia Garvin of South Sioux City.
When asked what her answer was, Sebade replied, "She said yes." Balloonist Tom Peterson said it
was the 14th time anyone has proposed marriage in his basket. Tom said the proposal took place
about halfway between the launch from the Wakefield Community School grounds to the landing about
11 miles west-northwest of Wakefield. Story and photo by Brad Kurtenbach
